About Japan
Adapting to the changing needs of the local market
Philip Morris International (PMI) entered the Japanese market in the 1950s, marketing cigarettes through two leading trading companies.
In the decades that followed, PMI launched many well-known international brands in Japan and in 1985 Philip Morris Japan KK was established as an affiliate to better serve the rapidly changing Japanese market.
